Your best answers could send you to the World Cup!

** For UK & Ireland residents only**

With just two months until the biggest event on the planet kicks off, World Cup fever is hotting up!

Within Answers you can now find 2006 FIFA World Cup GermanyTM content much easier in our new FIFA World Cup category.  Here you can find information such as predictions on who will win the World Cup, links to the definitive rules of football, and the first ever World Cup winners

Now, as official FIFA World Cup sponsors, Yahoo! UK & Ireland have teamed up with FIFA to offer our participants the chance to go to the FIFA World Cup Germany in person.

Our UK & Ireland residents have a chance to win a pair of tickets to one the following games (70 pairs of tickets will be given away):

  • Tickets for England v Trinidad and Tobago
  • Tickets for the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals
  • Tickets for the World Cup Final itself

To have the chance to win these prizes you just need to register for the UK & Ireland competition, and then keep answering questions on Yahoo! Answers. Between now and May 31st 2006, every time one of your answers is chosen as the best answer, you get an entry in our prize draw!  The more entries, the more chances you have to win, so writing exceptional answers really pay off. Make sure to register for the competition first though, because we can only count your best answers once you have registered.

So, get answering and good luck!

“No Best Answer” option

Sometimes, there just isn’t a good answer. Now, you have the option to indicate that when you vote. In this product update, when a question goes to vote, “No Best Answer” (see image) is automatically added to the list of candidates.

This new feature also provides a solution for questions that expire with one answer. Now, when a question expires with only one answer, the question automatically goes to a vote, with “No Best Answer” as the second option. This ensures that one-answer questions are brought out into the daylight and resolved!

If any of the original answers is chosen as the best, the question simply becomes resolved. However, if “No Best Answer” is chosen as the best, the question is automatically deleted, and the asker of the question gets five points credited back.

Heads-up: now that the system has a way to resolve one-answer questions, answers such as “Vote for the first answer” will be considered a violation of community guidelines and removed. This will not apply retroactively, only to answers posted after this product update.

You will receive an email notification if you have a one-answer question going into vote. Some of you will receive multiple emails from us (one for each one-answer question), so we apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

Character limit increase in user-to-user emails

Many of you requested an increase in the character limit for user-to-user emails, so we did that–you can now use up to 1,500–an increase from 500!

Hope you like the updates!
