Cure your worries with Dr Chris Steele

With people leading busy lifestyles, sometimes juggling study, work and family all at once, health is an aspect that can get overlooked. However, keeping fit and well is crucial and advice should be sought if you’re worried about any problem, no matter how big or small.

If something has been bothering you, whether it is about your diet, weight or an illness, you’ll be pleased to know we now have a doctor in the house. As well as being the resident doctor on ITV’s This Morning, The Family GP’s Dr Chris Steele, is now present on Answers too. Offering good advice on a range of health topics, you’ll find him sharing his knowledge in the Health category.

Since arriving on the site in September, the doctor has managed to build up an impressive 72% best answer rate by either enlightening people with the details of the Body Max Index or explaining to an anxious Asker that spots are not infectious. No enquiry is too unusual for this medic, not even when he is asked whether gold rings can be used as a remedy for a stye. Maybe not gold, but “silver has anti-infective properties… it’s used in wound dressings” he clarified.

One user wanted to know just how effective swimming is as a form of exercise when it comes to losing weight and our expert explained that “…it’s non-weight bearing so is useful for people with arthritis, or joint problems especially in the hips, knees and ankles.” While one Answerer was trying to lose weight, another was searching for help on trying to gain some.

The best thing about this specialist is that his answers are clear, simple and written to help each patient with their individual query. For example, one user must have felt very satisfied when he was given guidance on how to reduce his blood pressure. On his motivations, Dr Chris adds: “I believe that my prominent position in the media is an ideal platform for me to educate millions of people on health issues and hopefully save lives, and I am really excited by the opportunities created by the Internet and sites such as Yahoo! Answers”

So if you have a rash that just won’t go away, toothache that won’t let you sleep or just a general curiosity to find out more about a condition, post your thoughts on Answers. Hopefully Dr Chris will stumble across it and hand out the perfect dose of advice to cure your troubles.

And if you are interested in finding out more, you’ll find him on his website, The Family GP. Though of course, if you have a serious medical condition, we recommend you contact your own GP immediately!
