Make your answers shine
Hey Community,
We have been listening to your feedback and have been working hard this summer to keep improving Answers. One change you may now notice is that we changed the Ask and Answer pages to incorporate tips to help you get the most out of Answers.
Now, when you ask or answer a question, you will see a yellow speech bubble giving you some tips:
If there is any spelling mistake (you know, we all type too fast sometimes), you will be warned and, with help of the Spell Checker, be able to correct all mistakes.

Ignore, Change and click Done when ready. This will make your questions and answers look bright for sure!

We will also warn you if your caps lock is on… you know, in the Internet world, writing in capitals is often perceived as shouting and regarded as bad netiquette.

These are just a few of the tips we have for you. So what are you waiting for? Go discover them all and really make your answers shine!
For the experts amongst you who feel as though you don’t need any help, the tips can easily be closed. You only need to click on the “x” on the top right of the speech bubble and they are gone.
Don’t forget to leave your comments about these tips – we love hearing from you!

can you add ‘freecycle’ to your dictionary? used it a few times in an answer, irritating to be told it doesn’t exist when all the groups are hosted on your site!
Hi Mel,
Thanks for informing us. We’ll share this with our development team to update the dictionary.
Thanks,
— Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers team
could you actually go through your spellcheck and make sure it’s got the words in it right? i jsut got told “pernickety” (which is in my dictionary) doesn’t exist and should be spelt “persnickety”.
Pointless, too many words not recognised.
Can we have an option to disable the ‘tips’ as lots of people find them irritating, and don’t care whether they mis-spell. The ‘close tip’ only works on that answer rather than all the time.
I think we’d prefer efforts devoted towards reliability, rather than new features. There are still many ‘coffee breaks’ and disappearing avatars.
Why is it that yahoo answers England/Ireland uses an AMERICAN dictionary. This is extremely annoying as well as being a good example of cultural imperialism. 2. As the tips feature is roundly disliked why not remove it. I have read many users say that because of this they cant wait for an alternative to yahoo answers so this has got to be bad for business.3. Can we please have the old style spellcheck back as the new style which questions not only spelling but Englishisms is extremely annoying
So you’ve made “improvements”.
Not exactly to universal applause by all accounts.
Bring back email notification of contact’s questions,
that would constitute an improvement.
