Joining Yahoo! Answers was one of the smartest moves I’ve ever made, during my short life. I stumbled across this site whilst searching through Google, I joined and was hooked immediatly.
During a very horrid time in my life, I reached out and asked a question that would ultimatly change my life, for the better. I recieved an answer to my question which puta huge smile on my face. She e-mailed me and gradually we began e-mailing and talking every day. 4 years later and we have the strongest friendship possible.
I was never a believer in fate before, but now I know we were meant to meet. I can’t imagine my life without her, she’s like part of me. A soul-mate some may say. We meet as often as we can, and e-mail each other everyday. She’s saved me from myself, and in retourn, I’ve brought some sunshine back in her life.
To this day, I’m on top of the world, and it’s all down to her.
I love Yahoo! Answers!
I waste 30 mins of my life most days on this site. Does that count?
But no, the history section (for me anyway) does give a lot of details that I otherwise wouldn’t have found out about. Added to that, you get to meet people from different viewpoints, and then take the time out to ridicule them. <3 Y!A
I first came to Answers!Yahoo in February simply to find out the meaning of an English epithet ‘toe-rag’. I stayed around initially in Homework Help – but, I noticed there was a Poetry section. Over ten years ago I used to write poetry, but gave it up for want of purpose.
Answers!Yahoo has given me the opportunity to write poetry, receive encouragement and help and opened a flood-gate of creativity in me. Each day, I cannot wait to see what others have written, and to find out whether my submissions have been read and enjoyed. All this without needing to leave the house!
I love it.

I met my boyfriend on Yahoo Answers a year ago. We’ve been together for 9 months and we’re still going strong. I also got the help and encouragement I needed to start a teaching career, which is a dream I’d given up on. I love Yahoo Answers! It really has changed my life.
Questions and Answers has helped me such much in trying to help other people and has given me lots of confidence to air my views on most subjects.
answers changed my life!!! i asked my question and the feedback was fantastic. it eventually led me to contacting my birth mother and we have now met.
Being able to ask Questions and Answer peoples questions has really helped me in life, ive been able to ask people questions that no one i know in real life would know, its increased my knowledge and helped me learn to be more sociable and confident in myself =D
Yahoo! Answers has definitely changed my life.. It has allowed me to get answers from people who have gone through the same experiences as me etc. It’s not like a search engine where you get all the answers and that’s it.. It feels personal all the time because you get answers from real people who are elsewhere and who are out there.. I have definitely made some life long friends on this website and i was able to help others make those tough life decisions.. Whenever i’m in doubt i will always use this website to get answers. There are some answers you can never find on the internet, but you can find them from other people and you can find them here.
i love yahoo answers, because you can ask all the questions you ve always wanted to ask, but felt too embarrased to ask! for me, so much worry had been saved and my mind can be put to rest quickly. i get real answers, from real people who have had similar experiences and realise im not alone in this world!
its made me happier and confident in myself.
One year ago I was totally devasted when my relationship eneded in quite a terrible way. I lost just about everything and whiled away the painful hours on yahoo answers. At the beginning of this year, I spotted an avatar which just seemed to be calling out to me. I tried to avoid her questions and sometimes gave little discrete answers when feeling brave enough, and often under a different username. But she always seemed to spot me. Then I noticed her 360, and created my own where I would write small blogs about her. She had also gone through quite a bad time and it wasn’t long before we were talking on messenger, and later on skype. Now, we chat everyday on messenger, have never met or even seen pics of each other, I have no idea what she looks like, but we have built up an incredible relationship. Neither of us knew much about the internet, but determined to set up business together. We have learned so much together, have started our internet businees though it’s only in it’s early days and still has some teething problems. We have a web hosting company, an affilliate membership site and we’re currently building our own forum. All should be fully functional very shortly. We have learned SEO skills, how to read and understand php scripts, html, and many things I thought were over my head. We share our deepest secrets, have complete trust in each other and never have an argument ! We are planning to meet soon, it was supposed to be this month but we’ve delayed things for a while. And it all started right here on YA !
I have had an email from the Yahoo group! telling me I have won £500,000 in the Yahoo/Hotmail August draw!!
I have to send my name and address etc (although not my bank details at this stage) to :
paulwilliams130@yahoo.com.hk
Have you heard anything about this?
yes answers has helped me, I knew i wanted to go to college but wanted to hear from people that had gone back later in life, to see how they coped and fitted in. It reasssured me that i would be fine and should just go for it, i have now enrolled and on my way to uni in a year.
It has aslo enabled me to make new friends and meet people from around the country, who i wouldnt be able to meet in everyday life.
I enjoy sharing the life experiences i have to help others.
Thanks yahoo
i joined the site last year, actually it is the only site i go on except youtube,i wasted a lot of my life,in and out of prison,we went through a lot as a family, when my only brother was murdered, and because of this,i turned to drugs,i could not cope at all,i think this site has helped me in the sense that i know we can all suffer terrible things, and we all experience bad things, and i am geniun in the belief that no matter what,we can change for the better, and become a better person, yes i cant change what was but i can determine now what is,where as before i had nothing in my life, now i have, i dont care how people percieve me,i have been honest about my past from day one of joining,i never do anything to upset anyone,i am seriously trying to get my life in order,i have spoken to some really nice people whilst being on here, who do have understanding etc, however there is al;ways those who cause nothing but grief for others on this site, some have almost said its me,i have never thumbed down, and i definately dont report,i have as yous will be aware and it was justified,it was a pervert saying perverted things about woman and children, regardless of how others think of us,i would never lower myself to become a troll,i enjoy my time on this site,i have said it before,i came on here to make friends not enemys, and i believe by joining here it has helped me a lot,i am also now training to become a mentor,so it has given me a tottaly different out look on life, and hopefully i will be even meeting some one from this site.so for me its all good stuff.peAce.
Hey Paul,
This is definitely a scam, Yahoo! don’t do draws. Please delete the email.
As for everyone else, thanks for your fantastic reponses to this post. Please keep them coming!
No, it has ruined my life. I sit online reading stupid questions by people who are just messing around or I get scared at the dangerous and dumb advice that I have to spend ages giving my opinion, when I should be studying.
Yahoo Answers is helping me change my life as we speak. I’m American, but I absolutely love England. Basically what I’d love to do is rid all American stereotypes out of my system. I ended up taking a poll, and then typing all of the stereotypes that applied to me on a handy list which I store on my desktop. I’ve already been able to get rid of one. I realise this might sound lame to some but it’s really helping me shape myself into the girl I want to be.
Thanks Y!A

on y_answrs_team_uk@yahoo.co.uk
Is that a typo? Should we be emailing answrs or answers?
Hey Alex
There’s no typo, it’s y_answrs_team_uk@yahoo.co.uk – ie without the ‘e’ from the word answers.
thanks!
No, it’s just increased the amount of time I spend in the internet during the day. I highly doubt my employer would be impressed at all if they found out.
I have to say it has given me the confidence to start up my own blog and it is also a great way of getting answers to the many questions that life asks us.
It has also given me great tips on how to save money by cooking at home with lots of nice recipes for currys and stirfrys.
Thanks again yahoo team.
I am glad to have joined yahoo answers! It’s one of the best resources I know and the choices-decisions I’ve made since joining up have really changed me!
My perception of my health… people…family It helped that someone out there – in this big wide world- actually checked my questions and gave a damn about me.
I think Yahoo Answers! is one of the best resources currently available for sharing knowledge. It’s great to be able to get answers to those nagging questions, and to be able to pass on what you yourself know by answering other community member’s questions.
I stumbled into YH by mistake. I then ignored it for a year, or so, before getting “the bug”.
Most of the questions seem to stem from questioners’ inability to compose search strings, to satisfy their curiosity. Whilst filling that skills vacuum, for YH members, I have developed my search techniques and moved into “Data Mining”, which is much more sophisticated.
I have started to find myself in contact with some very serious organisations, who have been pointed in my direction, to research a wide range of issues. I have also benefited myself, in the area of innovative ideas and engineering.
Whilst I have not yet benefited financially, I am now in possession of solutions to several major deficiencies in motive and “green” technologies. This has prompted me to seek several patents and to enter an international innovator’s competition.
If things go well, I could become extremely comfortable indeed!
Thank you YH!
Has Y!A changed my life? Well a little bit… and for the better. Have always believed in the universality of the human condition. And that people everywhere are essentially GOOD! It’s just that life happens to us in different ways… And Y!A provides the perfect iteration of this belief. Everyday.
Answers has really helped me cope in the past. Through the stress i had of exams to exceeding my confidence. My perception of other things has also changed through reading other peoples thoughts and opinions about different matters. Although i do think it opens opportunitys for people to be neggative and pessimistic about your problems, therefore resulting in perhaps worry, I have come to understand it’s all part of the answer experience. Everyone has different opinions..
I always wanted to know who created yahoo answers because i want to send them BIG HUG for all the knowledge i have acquired in this website, apart from tips, advice, symapthy, opinions, and many more.. this website has helped me persue my dream of mastering FRENCH, i used to do homework and post it to be checked by nattive speakers of french, and they did help a lot. i am soooo grateful to them all
I got the best marks in the exams!!
At the same time , while preparing for exams , i was pregnant and yahoo answers gave me all the information i needed to help deal with pains and aches of pregnancy and childbirth
another major help, is help to solve family problems , it almost saved me from second divorce
BIG THANK YOU
I joined up on here about 2 years ago whilst I was an my final year at uni. When I should have been getting my work done I decided it better to answer random questions with relative honesty, I also found answering some questions with a daft answer a great way to blow off steam. But anyways I came on here a lot instead of doing my degree work. Last year YA gave out gifts to people who came on here a lot. The ironic thing is I just about got a good grade at uni and YA gave me my gift around the same time which was a mug. Now if I was been graded for effort I should have gotten a fisrt on YA and a mug for my degree! But that mug I got does make a good brew, I love hainv a cuppa tea out of that mug! And I think without that mug I wouldnt have a good brew and the days before I got my hard earned little gift seem dull in comparison. YA changed my life for the better I think!
I feel like I connect to people somehow
I am iproving my English and reading diffrent topics and questions of people.
Thanks! Yahoo Answer
i think that yahoo aswers has changed my life because instead of me searching hiurs on end for information i can ask a question and its there in minutes. I am now a regular user of yahoo answers and login everyday so thanks yahoo.
yahoo answers changed my life in a zillion ways!!! it started me answering questions (which led to me taking GCSE philosophy), and soon started my learning japanese (konichiwa! o genki desu ka? dozo yorushuku? ^_^) and even just helping me get silky hair!!
oh and not to mention yahoo answers is ALWAYS a big help with boy advice! which every teenage girl needs!!
I think Yahoo Answers is an excellent site. It has helped me with all sorts of things. If I can’t find an obscure song I loved, if I can’t work my ipod etc, there always is someone who can help.
More importantly though it is brilliant for people who are worried about things like embarassing illnesses, they can find out that it is in fact quite common and easily treatable and they can do it all anonymously too.
Also for people who are feeling down, who have split with a partner, been bereaved etc. Replies from people who have been through the same as you are a great comfort I am sure.
Keep up the good work
It has definitely changed my life. I have gained so much knowledge from Yahoo Answers ! I know if i ever have any worries, need an answer looking for info, a film title, a song title, a recipe or a friend or even something to do, that there will be someone to answer my question. One of the greatest ideas ever. It can only Improve……
I have had an email from the Yahoo group! telling me I have won £500,000 in the Yahoo/Hotmail August draw!!
This msg true or Not?
I first joined Yahoo, just to get answers to questions which i couldn’t find anywhere else, and I got them! I asked about moving schools becuase I was at a low point in my life, and the answers given really changed my thoughts on the subject. I decided to go for it, and I am now moving schools in September. Since then i have asked quetions about making friends (becuase of moving schools) and I am no longer worried, just looking forward to it! Thankyou Yahoo! I would probably still be where I was but for the answers I got! X
Thanks to Yahoo Answers I have found many “friends” who live in Europe or US,Canada ,India, etc. It is nice seeing all of us share the same thoughts or doubts.I love it ♥!
It really helps!
lol, these people are pretty cool!
Im only 15 and i joined half a year ago but its helped me decide what i want to do in life! before i discovered this site i still had a love for computers but i didn’t really know how to increase my knowledge(all i knew then was html and css) but i asked around and decided i want to be a programmer! Ive already learnt javascript some c++ perl python and vb! thanks to everyone that answered my questions. you’ve changed my life and made me a much happier person. i feel like ive found myself.
Hello people,I am an up and coming 81 year old and
although I can do some things on my computer, the one thing I have always wanted to do was send attatchments,I have tried so many times but it always
comes out wrong. Please help an old man and I mean
old man.
I had been experiencing some discomfort with “pins and needles” in my hands. I stumbled across the description of what I was suffering from on Yahoo Answers, and discovered it was Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as a result of reading the replies. I thought it was just a sign of old age!
Can’t say it’s changed my life, as such, but I do feel a lot better about my life philosophy in general as a result of the time spent in the Answers R&S section. Seriously, I thought I had problems!
In any case, it is a nice feeling being able to help people out with their problems. You can occasionally feel a bit useless and obstructive in the modern day world of grabbitall materialism, but coming on and contributing to peoples’ intellectual well being does make you feel that little bit more needed in the world.
Hello, well yahoo answers is really good it hasnt changed my life though! But i got some really good jokes on my joke question and what would you do with a million pound! I have random questions ’cause im weird but i like helping people out with there more appropreate quetions!
hahaa…
=]
I had first brief introduction to Yahoo! answers two years ago. It so happened that whener I visited Yahoo, a particular celebrity question couldn’t escape my eyes. I got so curious, I finally decided to read how it was answered. It gave me ideas. I too made an attempt! My answer wasn’t chosen to be the best, but I had discovered a gold mine! I started visiting it regularly! I picked my share of gold everyday. When I had enough of it, I started sharing my wealth with everyone!
Recently, I had joined an organisation as a Math faculty. My job was to collect question sheet, solve the sheet and teach students the next day. It seemed to be a gargantuan task. For all except me! Since none other at my place quite knew of this treasure, I was the only one who seemed ‘ahead’ of all. Can you imagine, I was accused of not being a ‘team player’? I was asked to quit. But I dont see it an unfortunate moment! I still have something that they dont!
I love yahoo answers and I’m glad to be part of it. The first time I ever came across Yahoo answers was when I was searching for pet Fish keeping ideas. Before I used Yahoo Answers I knew NOTHING about fish aquariums, fish keeping and most importantly the Nitrogen Cycle. So with the help of Yahoo Answers I now know so much, only because I asked and people with great knowledge told me stuff which I never thought I’d know. I also love helping and giving guidance to people, it’s great to have the feeling that you can help others with your own knowledge.
Keep up the good work!
Firstly I had joined Yahoo Answers from Brazil (Yahoo Respostas) to make a few public researches from school, so I’ve had to know different points of view. But once then I began looking up for questions, just to have fun…so I’ve noticed there’s information about nearly everything here. I just couldn’t spend a whole week without having a look at my questions & answers coz I was addicted to it
Well, it was actually UK Yahoo Answers that changed my life, and that is still happening (I hope! heheh) since last year, when I had found out foreign “Yahoo Answers” sites… thanks to my friendlies who told me about the American and Japanese ones. I’ve asked a few questions there, just to improve my English but I could actually get on well with the Irish here coz I do speak a little Irish. Since then I’ve made grand friendlies abroad, and I’m discovering new similarities of myself with the Irish everyday…….thanks a lot, Yahoo Answers!!!
I came across yahoo answers some weeks ago and was curious, i found good honest questions by many people needing advice, i had until then always hesitated at joining such sites because you never can tell someones reaction to your answers but it gave me confidence in many ways.
I guess some people would say i spend to long answering the questions but many times i have found the answers actually inspire me into doing something.
I cannot always answer seriously i have to be flipant at times, my confidence in making decisions in my life has greatly increased due to yahoo answers.
Has Answers changed my life-well not really. Life is what I make it and only I can change that, but has it changed my Yahoo questions and answers life. It has allowed me to contact users around the world and answer their questions also I can ask them questions. It now brings me to a question that I asked about a historical person of note. I did a web search once and tried to memorise this man as much as I could. I thought that I had all the facts that I needed and the spelling correct, but I still needed to know more, and I asked about him in Yanswers. Two days went by and not one answer did I get. I got a bit worried and tried to find the person in a encyclopedia. I saw a little bit about him and discovered that I got some of the facts and the spelling wrong. I deleted my question and asked again giving the right facts and correct spelling. Within 20 minutes..I got one answer.
If you want a bit of friendly advice..make sure that you provide the right facts and the correct spelling.
Answers has enabled me to get my version of politics much more notice. I try and tell people that common sense can be part of our political system even though the majority of politicians hate the thought of having common sense in any policy.
Through my articles in the Gaurdian / independent / the Times and the daily mail I have offered a different perspective on UK and Global policies.
Answers has been another good tool in not only communicating with other like minded people but it has also offered on occasion some humour and above all is a good educational tool.
I hope answers will continue to be as diverse in the future as it is today.
very much !
iam new in uk ..dont know anyhting about law and other thing..
it helps me alot..
thanks
A brialliant site,I really enjoy reading all the questions and answers daily,Its most interesting and I have been learned so much in the past months,Keep up the greqt work,
yes in a way, I am disabled yet have a lot of experience and so love answering other peoples questions. I am also into U3A and love that as well so when planning something I find it good to get it checked out with yahooers.
Someitmes I cannot understand why a perfectly good question should be deleted, like the one I asked abotu the differences between the Yiddish and Hebrew alphabets. I did not even know they were separate languages so learnt a litle.
I do answer a large number of alternative medicine questions but find it hard when people who hate altenative medicine put questions to get poeple to agree with them.
I love it and it has given me a purpose in life. To use my skills and find others and so learn.
I loved my answer to Alaska as I wondered how and why people lived there. i had no idea it was such a beautiful country and snow was not there all year round.
Thank you yahooers
yes, now i waste all my time on y/a…i think i might fail my gcse’s…
Yes it has made me frightened to switch my pc on after the vile, abusive and threatening emails I have received from a member with 30 different IDs who was claiming to be 14 different Police Officers. Yahoo have failed to act time and time again. The Police have cautioned him but he still persists and Yahoo do nothing. It’s a disgrace.
Hey Joan,
We’re sorry to hear this. We’ve sent you an email, please get back to us if you’d like to take this further.
