Answers update
Here at Answers HQ we’re always working on improvements and new features to ensure you, the community, get the most out of Answers. Today is no different.
Starting today and running over the next two months or so, we’re going to be testing an exciting new feature on the UK & Ireland Answers homepage for a lucky few of you. We wanted to let you know, just in case you’d noticed some slight changes.
So who are the “lucky few?” If you’re a UK & Ireland Answers user who’s Level 2 or above and are signed-in, you might see something different with the questions you see on the Homepage.
Don’t worry, it’s nothing drastic: you should just see the order, that some of the questions on the Homepage appear, slightly change. You might find the questions are more suited to your interests and areas of expertise, rather than those most recently posted.
We wanted to blog about this to allay any fears you might have of the new behaviour on the site and to ensure you were all aware of the feature. We hope you like it: if you see it and would like to send us some feedback, please do so to the official UK & Ireland Answers team account y_answrs_team_uk@yahoo.co.uk.
Many thanks!

Hi,
I understand I’m experiencing the new UK answers front page which is being tested in the UK.
I’d like to leave feedback about this as I think it has drastically altered the attraction of Yahoo answers. Now that the answers are ‘tailored’ to my specific interests, I find it much less enjoyable to use. Part of the reason I use the service is to see a completely random selection of questions from all sorts of people in all sorts of areas. The quick turnover of new questions was also an attraction which has been lost.
The number of new questions has been radically narrowed down and there seems to be a lot less new questions coming through. I understand that Yahoo wants to gear the questions to my interests but my primary reason for looking at the site is the total randomness of questions. Now this has gone, the site is much less interesting and I do not enjoy using it as much.
Yes, I have occasionally answered some questions about cats, but I don’t want to see a whole front page where 70% of the questions relate to cats. If I wanted to do this, I’d look under the categories. I really enjoy the variety of questions as it was before and hope the site will go back to this format. I feel I’m now missing out on all the interesting questions going on. This feels like the service has deteriorated, not improved.
I hope you will go back to the old format and I hope you take these comments into consideration.
Many thanks
I have to agree with Dash on this. The appeal of the Yahoo Answers front page is that I can view and answer any question I want. I mainly stick to 2 separate categories but I also like to browse the front page for any interesting questions, not necessarily within my preferred categories.
I understand why you changed it in this way, but I prefer the old format of being able to see all questions.
Agree totally with Dash and Kev, I enjoyed the random selection of questions, am bored with this new set up already. Please change it back quickly.
You say in your blog that we are being notified by e-mail when an answer is posted to a question, I am not. All I get is you have new mail say about15 when I open it it says you have no new mail, this has been happening for a long time, it also happens when I am expecting an ordinary e-mail, It’s really, really annoying !!
i hate it, its dum and useless
