One of the greatest inventions that has been in the last 20 year is the invention of computers it is very useful and virtually been used every where, schools, offices, hospitals banks at home name it. It is most importantly useful for mothers that work from their homes and keeps them informed about what is going on in the world even without putting on your television. Though everything comes with its own disadvantage but the advantage of having a computer, laptop around you cannot be over emphasied. cheers

must be the washing machine or wear would we be without clean clothes and we would be there fo ever washing by hand like they done years ago with dripping washing all over the place and condensation doing havoc with your health

Well the best invention has to be the computer, think of all the things it is used for, hospitals, banks, air travel and of course the personel computer and i would never have found out about this fantastic prize!!! i think the world could not do without computers ,just imagine where would we be without them.

The greatest invention of recent times must surely be photography, which was a gift of France in 1839. But it predates the 100 years so I will choose photolithography and printed circuits, which are just one spin off of photography and which have made the www possible.

The most important invention over the last 100 years must be the microchip.It is testament to the immense power of tiny things. Smaller than a penny, the chip, or integrated circuit, is quite literally the brain, heart and nervous system of every digital device on the planet. It powers computers, mobile phones, washer machines, cars and satellites. They are used in the design of space stations, they guide planes safely in for a landing, they make it possible for us to watch hundreds of TV channels (as well as power the remote control too), and enable teenagers every day to log on to the Internet and chat with somebody half a world away. Since the widespread introduction of the microchip in the early 1970s, there have been more medical, mathematic and scientific breakthroughs that in any other period of time, due in large part to the awesome computing power this thin silicone wafer has brought us.

The microchip’s main accomplishment is ushering us into the era of personal computing, one that would have seemed inconceivable just 30 years ago. Without the chip, most every mechanism that modern society has come to rely on – from jumbo jets to stereo Hi-Fis – would come to a grinding halt. With tens of billions of chips in the world running most every imaginable machine, many scholars now rank the development of the microchip as one of humankind’s greatest achievements. Without the almighty chip, we’d need an extra garage to store our computer, printer and fax machine; scientists would be decades behind on their research for life-threatening diseases and our homes would be devoid of such must-have modern conveniences as DVD players and microwave ovens. This being the case, where would I store my bike!

i believe the most important invention is a common language imagine where we would be without it. without language nothing else would have been invented because there would have been no means of passing the information on.
some people might say that language was not “invented” but somebody had to speak it first then teach it to othes in the same way we learn from others when we are born. imagine how freaky it would be if we could talk as soon as we were born. it wasnt around before ie cavemen just grunted so it couldnt have been discovered. imagine a world with out it
