Answers outage: now over

Hey everyone,

The UK & Ireland Answers Team is happy to announce that that the site is back after undergoing the second part of essential maintenance.  We can see from your hundreds of passionate comments on our blogs worldwide that you are all fond of the site and there are even a few Answerholics amongst you, so we’re sorry we had to deprive you of your favorite site for a few hours. But please trust us when we say the work was essential and will make Answers stronger and healthier from now on. This will conclude the planned maintenance for the immediate future.

Rest assured after this maintenance, the site will look just the same as it did before and should help it avoid future downtime.

Many thanks!

  1. I have not seen any improvement from yesterday. I thought something was going to be done about the top ten fiasco. How for ten weeks, we have had no clue as to how well we are doing.

Is this what tomorrow’s outage will be about?

When is YahooAnswers going to give US answers. What exactly are they doing?

  2. Really? How have you inproved it?

You say, ‘Rest assured after this maintenance, the site will look just the same as it did before and should help it avoid future downtime.’ Yes, it does look the same…complete with non-updating top ten. The top ten is still as effective as a fish riding a bicycle…so in actual fact, not at all.

Thank you for keeping us in the dark, and double thank you for not sorting out the top ten problem.

  3. It was my understanding that the performed maintenance was required with the aim of improving site performance as opposed to adding or fixing new features. Hopefully less coffee and breather signs for the future.

Having said this I have heard rumours of a feature release due next year, maybe we will have to wait and see ?

  6. Yet again every time I try to look at a question I get one of your “oops we’re taking a breather” messages or “We’re having a coffee break”. If these messages are to be believed, it would seem that you at Yahoo sit around on your butts all day drinking coffee and not much else. Perhaps your energies would be better directed at ensuring that this site works properly with less outages.

  7. Google’s site will be so nice in red and black. I am going to buy the good coffee when they decide to crush you after my call. Oh hell, you will love your new job of managing an empty network. If catching all of the pervs isn’t on the top of someone’s list, then can you state what it is that you want for your services? Now, I drove past your building once, and I did not stop in to see the colours. Ciao.
