Questions, questions

Tags: ,

You all know the drill. You can’t get a certain question off your mind so you log on to  your Yahoo! Answers account and ask. Then comes the wait and the anticipation that somewhere out there in the community, someone will give you the right answer. Sometimes, you get so many great answers, you can’t even pick the best one. Other times, you are disappointed by the responses or even did not get any at all. Here’s how you can deal with asking questions.

How should I close my question?
Keep it  clear and simple. The clearer your question is, the more likely it is you’ll get lots of good answers. Invite the community to answer and give you an explanation.

What if I get no answers?
Review your question to make sure it is clear and not too long. Make sure you placed your question in the appropriate category.
Providing additional information to further clarify your question in the Details section is also very useful.
Also, remember that questions stay open for 4  days and you can always extend it one time by 4 more days to a total of 8 days.
If no one answers your question after 8 days and your question expires, you can try rephrasing your question and asking it again or search Yahoo! Answers to see if anyone else has received an answer to a similar question.

So many great answers, which one to choose?
Why not let the Answers community pick the best answer to your question? You can put a question up for a vote. In case of a tie, the question remains in voting as a tiebreaker. Once a vote has been cast, you have a best answer.

What if there’s no best answer?
When your question goes into voting, you have the option of voting for ‘No Best Answer’. If an answer is chosen as the best, your question becomes resolved with that answer. However, if the No Best Answer option is picked as best, the question is deleted and you get five points credited back to your Answers account.

  4. I’ve asked the same question on Y!A about a Physics problem about three times and didn’t get a response either time.

Surely if Yahoo sees that a) it isn’t getting any response and b) that it is a decent question unlike “Am I pregnant?”, then they should contact one of the Physics TCs and email them with a few unanswered Physics questions.

After all, they only answer in one section, don’t they?

  5. Hellzzzz, the problem with intelligent questions is that Y!A is one of the most low-brow places on the Internet.
If you have a serious physics question and nobody is answering it, it’s because the top physicists think that sites like Y!A are filled with idiots. Try a physics mailing list or forum instead.

  8. ▲how old do u have to be : thirteen over , check hemp guidelines,

◊ questions with answers can also be searched for in menu, prior to asking again,
◊ new users not always get a clear answer, and some get mis-answered by us, or negative when question seems repeated,
◊ some top inside users already know group answer, only meant for group answer, other passerby’s get ignored or shunned,
◊ add details if no-one answers within fifteen to thirty minutes, verify category, if misplaced, delete and rephrase, some times two main words re direct category to wrong related word,
Q:I’m going to Shop for Pet Food, before it’s Time to go to Work at the Busy Office Downtown, Where can I find it? category should be “pet food” “>Pets” but other word like Shop place query into Food & drink, or Local Businesses, common error,

◊ it is best to choose any at all, or vote if passed due date, before “point gainers” spam and vote, not always best answers are correct,
◊ sometimes there is no one best, especially if several answer the same generic response, possibly choose the first reasonable answer, although, once in voting, the answers appear to be scrambled or reversed, so first answerer, is not always chosen, read carefully,

    ❛ave a nice day, :)
