From today, some of you will start experiencing a slightly different page design when you visit the Category pages.
NB: a larger version of this screenshot is available here.
This is the new page design and over the next week we will gradually be increasing the number of people who see this page until it is the only version of the Category page you will see on the site. We’re doing this cautiously to ensure your overall experience on the site isn’t affected.
No prizes for the first ones to see it – but we are very keen to hear your feedback on the new page when you do see it – please leave your feedback through the blog comments or directly through our feedback page.
We will tell you more about the exciting new design once it is fully visible to everyone!

It looks great! A fantastic layout, I can’t wait until I can experience it first hand.
(I don’t care much for ex’s & sperts myself, but some of those questions on your example are considered as chatting, according to the so called forum ex perts.)
I’m thinking of moving to your side of the pond, y’all seem more apt to allow real people to participate.

I have to say I hate it. It is much more simple now, and bigger isn’t always better. Leave the old design, at least it works (most of the time)

I see that there is a reverse order arrow for the “Newest” sort option. Will Most Popular and Most Answers have one as well?

this looks very good
The new design looks better and nicley laid out. I like the fact that you can see who the top 10 answerers are in a particular category opposed to having to click a link at the top of the screen, but won’t that be sort of helping trolls who may target the TC’s and top answerers by using report abuse and the thumbs down button a load.

I like the new category view. I’m particularly pleased that you’ve put the full top 10 on there: a long overdue and much needed improvement which means that more people will get the recognition they deserve. However, I think you’ve missed a trick. Why have you made the leader’s avatar so much bigger than the others? Speaking as a category leader myself (Languages, Answers Italia), I would prefer that category leaders received no special treatment: this sort of thing can feed resentment. It should be enough to be in the number one slot. Another thing … now that you’ve made this significant improvement, could you take it one step further? It would be nice if you could put a link in that would take people to a page showing the top 30 or 50 users in the category. And maybe another link showing all the top contributors in the category. What do you reckon? Anyway, good work.

As an unintentional top 10 category answerer in a section that’s full of crap and young kids, I was disturbed to see the Top Answerers list moved to the Category page, rather than kept behind a link for those who are curious about such things. The lists are not updated to reflect the actual number of Best Answers after the cheaters and point-gamers on the list get their so-called Best Answers removed after being reported. And then, worse yet, after getting scores of their answers removed, they are allowed to keep their account and retain their spot on the list. Therefore, the Top Answerers list is meaningless and only encourages more cheating and point-gaming, as reflected in another upstart who has recently raced his way up the list. I don’t like being on the same list as those two, and I don’t like being displayed front and center for all the small-minded children to see.
Please darken /increase density of the blue text.It is too light now for that small of text and many users find that it strains their eyes.Other users have difficulty reading it.I know several older users that have difficulty now even with cntrl + to increase size.You may be losing older less visually able users from this.I’ve had to get some to use an audio reader adon for Firefox and they really don’t like that as everyone in the house gets to hear everything they read.

As a more recent user of Yahoo Answers I had not got too used to the old version and the change hasn’t affected me as much, however I like the way the new version has been designed as I find it very easy to navigate.

it was so much easyer to use and you didnt have to keep scrolling down to find new questions.
