Yahoo! Answers outage Saturday 19th September
We have some planned maintenance scheduled on 5am GMT on Saturday 19th September. During this time Answers will be unavailable.
Don’t worry though, there are heaps of other things to do on Yahoo! to fill your time!

I`m sure we`ll find something to do,,
I see off at 5am on the 19th but can’t see when your back. How are we all going to live without Answers and Questions.

would have been nice to have had an indication of when you expect the maintenance to be completed by… i know it’s not easy to make such a prediction, but a rough guess should be possible.

I hope Yahoo are doing something about the lack of colour and other features that were on 360 and sorely missed on the profiles, whilst on this maintenance break.
When do you expect the job to be done? An ETA would be nice.
I can find other things to do, but I just wonder how all those Y!A addicts will cope with withdrawal…

i hope this dont cause it to mess up more! last time they updated, they caused so many glitches that people on Y!A were complaining about it, way to many, in fact.
Can we hope that it will be possible to indicate the specific country from which questions and answers are placed?
There are CONSIDERABLE differences between Laws, Rules and Technical systems betwen the anglophone countries, and wthout knowing where questions and answers are being placed, it is only too easy to give the wrong answer. This has to be a fundamental failing of Q&A.
It would also be nice if the spell checker did not correct English spelling for US spelling, as that is often a clue about the location of the placing of an answer.

It would have been nice to have had some warning about this last night. People may have questions open that are due to expire today that they planned to resolve this morning.

Feel sorry for the poor dears who miss it already! Well, I’m not on it nowadays, as I’ll be moving back to France early next year – and so, hardly have any time to check mail, let alone experience the pettiness of Answers – talking of which, will this maintenance also include much more sterner rules for the idiotic and stupid…or better still, show the people who are ‘thumbs down’ addicts…and that’s only one ‘glitch’ I can mention, along with the ‘isms’ shown by morons who can feel like a ‘hard nut’ after an answer which not only makes the questioner upset, but has others, upon reading the question, and his/her answer, will not compose an answer of their own for fear of being ‘dissed’ themselves. Yahoo! Answers is a fine thing – but never thought there were so many people in English-speaking countries vexed about the most pettiest things – and would write on a keyboard which they would never NEVER say to one’s face.

As per normal Yahoo gives you when it will go out but no indication as to when it will be completed.
Hopefully they will take this time to retrain some of the moderators as well as sort out the many problems this site has.

i’d love to see less flash, single image adverts are fine, flash takes up too much of my bandwidth to want to hang around in yahoo for any lenght of time these days. Now every click in answers is another flashig advert, it’s become the new Blue screen of death!
Plus it was a mistake getting rid of 360, the new blog set up is just terrible ;( I blogged all the time and now I use blogger instead…. come on guys…

Paul R. Western Australia had/has “P” plates. ‘P’ for probation. They are used when the “L” plate user has passed the test and it lets others know of a new driver (so – give them a go) – common curtesy.
Their Policewoman are more into “social services” than actual police work.

What many people seem to fail to understand it seems, is that we are nothing more than cogs in the Y! money making machine. As such, our opinions are moot. The majority who use this are willing to be walked over and used in this manner, hence the obsene amount of glitches, inadequate moderation and allowance of hate fuelled answers/questions in ‘certain’ categories. Therefore those who may have legitimate suggestions for the improval of a site such as this, or have the need for adequate moderation or even some professionalism within the Y! ‘team’, are ignored as they are the minority and hold no interest with regards to the main issue – the making of £Profit$.
people are so disgusting here , the things they post about their personal lives, that no one wants is interested in knowing about , and other irrelevances . i wish they could all cease to exist or leave the internet and never comeback. no one likes you people.

Maybe QUESTIONS should be put on ‘hold’ for a day or two – so those who do want to ‘Resolve’ their own will have a chance to do so.

No, lets get something straight. The whole IDEA behind the internet is about the ANONYMITY.
I DO NOT WANT yahoo to ANNOUNCE to everyone where I am from. I am quite CAPABLE of doing so myself. Furthermore, knowing where someone has posted from can cause all sorts of problems such as discrimination or not answering the question properly.
FOR EXAMPLE even when I stated about 3 times in my question that I needed info on a shop in X country, I got 5 answers all telling me shops in every country except the one I specifically mentioned.
If people are too stupid to remember to put their age in a question about heart disease, or their state or country when asking about law, it is their own damn fault !
I am SICK of having to constantly change my status to make me more anonymous. If I want to say where I’m from I will. Same with yahoo always changing their front page to give me local news, I DON’T WANT LOCAL NEWS. STOP SPYING ON ME for one, and I will go WHERE I WANT, I am not stupid, I know how to find local news.

Sorry I don’t think I was clear, what I meant to say was that stupid people don’t pay attention to where you are from anyway, as when I ask for country-specific help, almost no-one ever READS where I live, despite me usually having it in the TITLE, and they all offer useless advice. So having a flag at the bottom of the page isn’t going to help people without a brain which is apparently 60% of people, and about 30% of them are racist and xenophobic, and most of the Americans are not even aware that people exist outside of America. As evidenced by the amount of them correcting people’s spelling when it is non US-english. LOL!
